i bought this on a whim but now i'm wondering what to do with it?

P1140679.jpg

it looks like some kind of juniper to me but the only name i have for it is in thai and i can't find a translation. any ideas what it might be?

as it stands now, i think it would make a pretty boring bonsai, do you think i could shape it to make it more interesting?

ideally i'd like to end up with something like this

or this aob_032_juniper_procumbens.jpg

the trunk seem a little hard to bend but i guess applying pressure over time may do something. but i'm wondering if i should lop the top off now, at about 7-8" tall, just above a nice strong branch? then develop that branch as the new trunk extension. i think that will encourage the remaining lower branches to grow a lot quicker right? and help develop a nice taper and shape.

what do you think?

thanks
