I was reminded that I really do need to wear gloves when working with my communis junipers.

You're telling me...i keep getting reminded i need to wear gloves when cleaning roots on trees in the winter...pretty sure every tree i collect has poison ivy or oak roots running through the root ball...I've had poison ivy 4 times since Christmas...and probably 10 times or more in the last year. Just healed up from the last time, and here it goes again. All the way up my left arm, and under my left eye this time...20250303_203826.jpg

Repotted a tree I did over the weekend as I had it to high in the pot. I could hear Adair in my head. If you aren't happy with it. Redo it. (You typically have a week grace period to redo a repot. If unhappy with it.)

Commissioned pot by Victor Harris of Erin Pottery.

Species: Japanese maple Acer Palmatum

I was doing some landscape work today for one of my customers. She said I could have all the JM babies I wanted from underneath her large mature one. Here’s what I got…. Bade a quick forest out of them.

What problems did you encounter? I have 3 Chamaecyparis Ellwoodii I picked up for cheap at Christmas I was thinking of doing a forest/penjing thing with.
To produce this compositions is like solving a math problem (I'm a mathematician myself). I've been watching these trees for almost 2 months, trying to imagine how to arrange them, what rocks and elements to use, how would it look after repotting. And yesterday an acceptable solution came to me, so today I begun the assemble....it begun to rain, so I will finish tomorrow I hope.

Cheers
DSD sends the same thing
The more I look at it the more I think the same thing. I may redo them tomorrow. I’m also not loving that pot with a forest composition.

Seeing everyone else working on their trees is giving me the itch.

Oops I split this $12 white spruce and wired it. I also have to shop for a better pot for it.
