Probably counterintuitive in bonsai world but I straightened my hinoki cypress seedlings… need to have them super straight for my forest project. Years to go… but in terms of inspiration here is the little story…
I showed my wife (little bit unfortunately) attached picture of forest by Kimura and seems further bonsai funding might have been suspended if I don’t do soma thing along the lines for her ;)… so didn’t have much choice.
Btw… does anybody have dimensions of this thing? I was trying to search the internet but unsuccessful. Would appreciate if anybody knows.
I have seen a photo of the one on the right. I was doing a google search of clamshells and bonsai, and it popped up. I will look again and let you know. I am almost positive I saw the measurements for it.

Not so much bonsai but I brought in the rest of my patio tropical's. I did bring in the ugly ficus my brother gave me years ago. Every fall I consider just leaving it outside but guilt always makes me bring the stupid thing inside. last ones.jpg

Thank you... I'm quite average "google searcher" so your help is really appreciated.

Not dimensions, but the first few minutes of this Bonsai Empire video Kimura talks about the forest and it is sitting next to it.

Thanks a lot for this… very helpful… it’s kind of big thing … though probably fair to assume Mr. Kimura is not a 6+ footer ;)

Removed the dead foliage and cleaned up the old cuts a bit from collection in the spring on this beech. Wasnt sure it would survive, a rabbit ate all the first growth it pushed this year, and it pushed hard after the rabbit pruning thankfully.

Wow. That thing is huge. Easily 3 by 4. Beautiful though. I would think that watching the video, you could ascertain the size and get a close guess.

A lot of Kimura's forests are around the same size, here is Bjorn styling a different hinoki forest created by Kimura. And Bjorn is a 6'+.

Very interesting trunk. Already a tree full of character, can imagine it with a bunch of Twisted old branches coming off. Great stuff.
My pic, Oleo Europaea var Africana. Rough styling on Sunday. Not quite sure yet where this is headed yet. Just going with the flow.
