Potted up my twig acquisitions. Have to carry them down to their holding pen, scatter straw. Nothing to be done with them for quite awhile. Like 2 years, awhile.😆. Can you tell, the furbaby is not impressed.🤣

Probably counterintuitive in bonsai world but I straightened my hinoki cypress seedlings… need to have them super straight for my forest project. Years to go… but in terms of inspiration here is the little story…
I showed my wife (little bit unfortunately) attached picture of forest by Kimura and seems further bonsai funding might have been suspended if I don’t do soma thing along the lines for her ;)… so didn’t have much choice.
Btw… does anybody have dimensions of this thing? I was trying to search the internet but unsuccessful. Would appreciate if anybody knows.
I visited Kimura a year ago and the similar one he had is probably around 30 inches tall

Apprentices for scale

He makes his own lightweight rock material for the trees to grow on. Yoshi let me pick up a rock that didn't have anything planted on it yet.

Not interested in that tree. Tree has little taper and small trunk.
Believe it or not Da Beast is bigger at the base and Batman is bigger still.

Nice pictures. TPSP is only a half hour from me. I'll have to check it out sometime.

Thanks… that helps a lot to get perspective on the size of these things. Appreciate pictures. Lucky you!

Squished a Singapore holly berry that fell of my plant. Going to see if the seed will sprout, have no idea if it's viable.
Just got my plant this fall and it came with tree green berries on it. They ate bright red now and the plant is full of flower buds.

Visited the Portland Japanese Garden, check out the Bonsai display.

Had a similar experience at the Denver botanic gardens last year

Finished yesterday a buildout in my living room of this wrap around floating shelf unit.

Nice. My real question is how do you organize your records?

Uh oh. I feel like I’m being tested here.

I organize them alphabetically.
Marvin Gaye = G
The Allman Brothers Band = A
Lol. Ive long argued with myself on artists whose name starts with "The"... I think your sorting is the standard though.

I wasn’t sure if you were gonna be in the genre first, alphabetical second camp. Which is weird but I’m sure some people do it.

And yes, “The” doesn’t count in my system.

Ive always been Artist (Alphabetical**) - Album (Chronological by original album release date)... but the artist alphabetical determinations often get changed around for solo artists and classical composers... For instance, Jean Luc Ponty I file under "J", but Igor Stravinsky under "S"? Seems weird.

Watered some of the tropicals today... Need to better sort and clean them up since I brought them in.. Also have a few to repot.
