Check out pirateship.com, it has cut my shipping costs by more than half and is a totally free service.

Using Pirate ship helps. For BCs small $40-$60 med $60-$90 large $90-$150

Do either of you use label printers? If so, which one? I'm afraid to go cheap, but I really don't want to overpay.

I don’t. I just print the label with my laser printer. The UPS store has free sticky label sleeves. I just put my label in the sleeve and slap it on the box.

Did a walk about to look at trees at an area where my friends are trying to repair hurricane a wash out area and restore the habitat. We will be plantings trees there soon after removing all the debris.

Brought out half my trees from the overwintering cave. 3 months no sunlight.
Also removed all the dead leaves from my 3 acer dissectums so I can prune back.

N side of house barely any direct Sun makes good transition to full Sun on S side of house in a month, during a cloudy week.

Now I wish I had a leaf blower with vacuum and a leaf bag.

I think I recognize these trees from one of your videos where you mentioned planning to use them for a workshop in the future. I must applaud you for making such an effort to provide high quality material--most intro classes here use simple garden stock, which inevitably leads to poor trees. All these trees look excellent, and no small part of that is the stock provided! Excellent work, Jelle.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr
The beavers have demolished almost all the BC seedlings I planted last year. The seedlings are just budding and were looking really good.

This is WAR!

Sorry. The no gore etiquette overrides the picture rule for this thread.
Dam!

Most of my trees are from nursery stock. I know of two trees in my collection that was purchased as a bonsai, and one pre bonsai from International Bonsai.

I'm not dismissing nursery stock; I'm simply speaking about the kind (and quantity) of nursery stock selected for beginner bonsai workshops. Not just the raw quality, but also the workability by a beginner.

Agreed. Often, years go by with nothing to select that I'm interested in. Especially true with mugo. Other pines have have all but disappeared entirely here locally. Have to be very selective or picky.

Untouched since last year.
Here's a couple examples of my trees with no sunlight stored under my sunroom with no exposure to rain or snow.
Very low ambient light but plenty of air.
There is absolutely no dead foliage in the junipers.
The Scotts pine has a couple brown needles that may've been there last year.
The lack of Sun keeps the roots temperature more consistent.
No issues if I needed another month in the cave but I don't.
No freezing temps for 7 days out from today.

Im still using printer paper too. I looked into the printers a while back but couldn’t justify the extra $. Let me know what you end up with.

Actually yesterday:
Potted these 2 mirror image 20 year old Morris dwarf Boxwoods dug up in my friend's garden in late October. They were already exposed root and leaning sideways in his garden, so I wanted to keep that feature. I don't have any concept of how to style these yet. Obviously, I need to remove some branches and get more light to the interiors. Potted into pumice: lava: coco coir:akadama: pine fines approximately 10:2:2:2:1
This is Boxwood #1
