What did you do today? Show us Pic Required

Will photo dump in a bit I’ve been in a wiring frenzy alll day with a spruce group and touching up a pitch pine keeping my worries at bay. I was off today because my dog ligament repair surgery on his back leg, procedure went well now he has a clean bill of health….... thank goodness for insurance 😅

Drilled a hole in some pottery I had and gave the thuja prima a new home after yesterday's trim and wire episode. I know it probably was not a good time to report but really needed it! I am still learning about everything but I did my attempt at substrate. It's toes are in a mix of lava, perlite, damascus earth and grit.
Anyone else see a dragon shadow?

Took a trip to Meehan's Miniatures (2.5 hrs one way) and spend some money on stuff to grow out.
Hinoki, EWC, ewe, Arakawa, azalea kobai, jap larch, amelancher, Kingswood boxwood, Hong Kong kumquat and natal plum. He was putting security cameras up after the tree theft last weekend.

No it really wasn't.
Zone 5, might I suggest you heel it into the ground and mulch it on a protected side of the house for Winter?

Yesterday I began removing dead needles, and some pruning of ramification to make room for more
on my JWP. Mapping out my wiring spots. Doubt I'll be wiring the entire tree again this year.

Can't really tell, but I removed a gallon of needles, shoots and non essential branches like 1st pic.
Apex has a good bit more light coming in actually.
The tea roses have really shot up since planting mid May.

I haven't bought it yet... You might be pushing me in that direction!

I personally would not buy it at any price point, but it's a nice juniper.

This week I began some pruning on this Sargent or Parsons juniper that ghosted on me 3 times this year from the spider mites. Yet there are runners and the sacrificial cascade is overly healthy. My least liked juniper on deck, it had the worst infestation of all my trees.

I sifted some bark today. I actually like the 20 minutes or so it takes. Hapi Gro from Lowes. Normally I sift out the fines and then sift out the big pieces in the biggest screen. I got lucky on this batch. Not many bigger pieces at all. I just raked them off the top of the smaller screen. I figure 80-85 % yield. Not bad for $4.00. This has been my go-to bark source for all of my 8 years in this hobby. Smells heavenly, too.
