What’s your latest Bonsai related purchase?

I always wanted very old juniper with massive deadwood and a lot of work to do... here is the material I finally hunted down here in Shanghai. After long negotiations we cut it at $270... I think it's a steal. But tones of work to do on this one. It's the variety I never dealt with... hope somebody could help with identification... my app says different things depending on the photo :)

Thought sone of you guys might find this interesting . Lee Valley Tools. Based in Ottawa Canada . But they have a online shop . And ship everywhere . These are not as high quality as Japanese leaf shears. But the price can’t be beat. Remember that’s in Canadian Dollars , currently about . 71 cents to the US dollar . I think any of you not familiar with LV will not have trouble finding enough stuff to make the shipping worthwhile. Specialist in garden kitchen and woodworking tools . Mostly quality hand tools

they are painful to develop... I bought 3 or 4 last year with good trunks... will be looking at them later during winter but didn't see much progress on branching/ramification...
You gotta wire them when the branches are still green also...and be VERY careful.

thanks for advise... appreciated... remember reading it somewhere. What I meant as well is that at least mine tend not to have too many new shoots... they rather invest in 2/3 strong ones so even with pruning it's an uphill battle to ramify them well...
I bought them only this year spring so just let them grow this season... but as winter is coming will be taking a closer look on structure and shave some of it in very early spring next year.

I picked up a stunning new Cryptomeria. It sat alone in the discount section at a local nursery and it was love at first site. About 3' tall and 4" in diameter at the base. So much natural character. It had a significant amount of dieback so I cleaned that up but will just keep it happy and well-fed until I decide what my next move is.
