What’s your latest Bonsai related purchase?

Been on the look out for a Texas Ebony. Because they grow in this area. Saw a few saplings and a couple threes that were too big for me.
But the saw this. At least it is a little older than a sapling. And the branches are a still bendable.
It is came planted in a mix of lava, turface, sand and organic soil.
And these three pots.

Got this perfectly good looking tree in the markdown rack at Lowe’s earlier today, not sure why it was there. $15, couldn’t pass it up. Tag just says Costa Farms - “Bonsai, statement piece” . Can some one ID this for me? IMG_9374.jpeg

Thanks in advance!IMG_9375.jpeg

chinese elm?

Nice, got a tree already in mind?
🤔... unsure. Nothing that's ready for a pot. That unusual JM that came in maybe. It's a toss up between this and that gnarly Erin pot. It's very raw yet... I think it may get that scarification Laurent uses for cosmic...without the twisting branches. I have one already full on cosmic I'm working that's an elm. I like order for a canopy over chaos. But I'm still drawn to the concept. But to many full on cosmic won't standout. I want my main one to stand true and on its own.

That's where my gerbil is landing currently. Once in hand...I'll know more.

Forgot to share the Erin. Both offer a different feel. But once the pot arrives...from Kevin. I'll look again at what I do own. 😉

Both lovely pots sounds like a luxury problem to pick one for that maple!

Thanks... both will offer a different feel. But it's a long way for that. It's to raw to put into a shallower pot.

The Erin I bought for that hollowed trunk maple. But...I love the unglazed (lotus?) Shaped pot it has. That I don't want it changed out. The simplicity of it...doesn't steal from the decayed trunk.

I did buy more boot trays. So a total of 3 small and one large for this year with grids. I believe all trees will have them under them. 😎 all now fitting in there. Maybe even some space for next year's trees. Moving things around better. The thija doesn't move in until winter sets in ..and we see extreme Temps. But may go in sooner. As I've trees in front now of it. 🤔 but I will still delay it as long as possible.

Chinese elm

I just got a bunch of aluminum wire in different sizes for my deciduous trees

Just brought this spruce home for a bargain. It belonged to a man who suddenly passed away and his wife couldn’t take care of the trees anymore so decided to sell them. I wish I had a larger wallet because there were some quality trees in the garden.

The tree seems a littlebit neglected. I checken for mite but I couldn’t really see any but just to be sure I’ll do a lime sulfur rinse this winter.

The soil is really compact, I’m going to losen it a bit with a chopstick and then give it 1 last dose of PK liquid fert before winter starts. Is there anything else I can do to ensure the health of this tree before I repot it in spring?F8B036F2-41DF-4024-ACB7-8494E5DE2770.jpeg
