What’s your latest Bonsai related purchase?

Yesterday, I bought this book from the Book Bin here in Salem Oregon, then found olive trees at Lowe's marked 75% off. So I bought two. I think these are 2 gallon pots, and they were $6.25US each. I tried to pick ones with a decent Nebari, but I have no clue. Not sure what I'll do with them, but for the price, I thought good practice material.JDVertrees.jpgOlivetree1small.jpgOlivetree1-2small.jpgOlivetree1-3small.jpgOlivetree1-4small.jpgOlivetree2-1small.jpgOlivertree2-2small.jpgOlivetree2-3small.jpg

Didn't really mean to, buy had my eye on some nursery stock on clearance. A Mugo pine. Yeah, it needs work but that's okay. I was not responsible for the butchering. But what you can't see, is because of the butchering, there is really nice movement of one of the trunks, that slinks uphill going right to left.

Also, best time to prune? I didn't find Google all that helpful, this a.m.

Cheers.

Well.. Technically not a PURCHASE, as this is more of side-of-the-road-for-free when a person cleaned out his yard. This morning I passed the garden and this was laying on the curb. A quick chat later and the tree came home. Lets see whether this lives. Awfully little foliage left.

Also, I received yesterday the Korean hornbeam and a luma apiculata that I ordered from Brent. My last one did a few years back, hopefully I can keep this one alive.

I had a gift card laying around of a small company that has a small nursery beside the work they do in creating and maintaining gardens...
I popped by for work and was actually amazed they have lots of different plants and most of them sit around long enough that even the tags with prize and info on the species became white... as i walked around i stumble uppon this little berberis and i spotted this taxus baccata wich stood out because of the small needles it has but none of the trees had price tags so i took them inside to ask the cost... the guy looks at it ask what my gift card was and he says lets make it 25€ imo a steal since the gift card was that amount i didnt hesitate and agreed.
We chatted for a bit and i told him that i was going to use it for bonsai so he asked me to come in the back and he shows me that he has a decent amount of bonsai pots he once bought to sell all China mass produced but almost every thinkable sizes and cheap as fuck a 40 cm width pot for 10€ and he got lots of them also allot plastic training pots he grabs two sizes and gift me them...
We talked for some more and he ask my Phone number in case he gets new stock that might be interesting for me but not for the landscape.
when i got a Day off i will return to walk around Some more since my time was limmited today but i think i found a gem for buying nursery stock 5 minutes from my house !

A pot by Kevin Berresford...a Kintsugi repair with gold foil. Classy...loved the glaze...loved the actual repair as well. This would most likely be my front of the pot I think.

Foil was a nice touch!

Yes, would have to agree.

Unsure the pot size. Natural...raw...unglazed...hints of yellow if my screen isn't failing me. What about a larch?
