What’s your latest Bonsai related purchase?

I hope you have a speedy recovery. I had a friend show me a photo of a tree for sale while I was on pain killers post surgery and I bought it. I still like the tree but I shouldn't have been making that kind of decision at the time 🤣
Thank you. At least I had enough hold on reality to stay away from Wigert's website. That could have been a real surprise when the Fedex guy started unloading boxes at my house....

Apparently, I bought some Toyo Nishiki quince when I couldn't sleep the other night.... I thought I broke the late-night plant purchase curse.

Yeah, I feel this. I grabbed a trident maple the other night and going through my email I was reminded that I also purchased another chojubai from Bill V’s site some late night last week. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Taking submissions for a vanity plate for my bonsai mobile!

I also sold about $400 of stuff at the club meeting last night!
FATRUNK
DEPROTS = deep roots
SMALEAF
GR8TRIM
WIREDUP
TREEMAN
BNUTRCK = Bnut Truck

Then get a bumper sticker that says "My other Tree is a Shohin."

Oh man, I’ve never liked bumper stickers on my cars, but on my bonsai van, it seems a must.

It was a big purchase, so I’m double dipping :P. Here’s a picture of the dashcam that came with it, since its the only other picture I have.IMG_5084.jpeg

So I received my trident maple from Brussels today and I feel more than satisfied with the tree that I got for my $35. One problem though… it’s already started leafing out and being in Maine I’m looking a at least a month or more of winter weather. Anybody know how to put a maple back to sleep!?!? Most of my trees are kept dormant in a climate controlled space I have in my garage but the temps in that area, while above freezing, still sit between 33° and 40° for the most part. I feel like this might be too cold for a trident in leaf. Any thoughts or advice?

Picked up a couple red chojubais from the big box store. Thinking about combining them in one pot. Larger ones are so pricey and they seem to have multiple trunks. May also ground plant them. Is the growth significantly faster with thickening in the ground?IMG_1339.jpeg

Woah! What big box store has actual chojubai!?!?

Bonsai for me has been an entry drug for Japanese art. Lately Ittobori (one chisel) carving. This is a Kappa. A traditional Japanese Yokai water spirit that resembles a turtle but definitely isn’t 😁

LILTREE is the leading contender at the moment. I also really like BONESAI…if I had an extra letter BONESIGH would be even better
I say keep it simple BONSAI if available. Too bad if people don’t know how to pronounce it. You may have people wave swords at you as they drive by, yelling out your personalized plate!

BONSAI is not available; closest I could get would be BON5AI which I don’t love. I like BONESAI because its pretty tongue in cheek.

Can you substitute the letter O with the number 0 or the letter I with the number 1?

My insomnia purchasing has returned.
Got a white chojubai and a sekka hinoki. From international bonsai.

I just got a red one from him. The whites are surprisingly nice… I did just say I was done with my spring splurge… perhaps I lied.
