I had just watered it. It's usually light gray. It's still young, (15 years) it will continue to have the juvenile smooth white bark for another decade when it will begin to create the nice rough bark.

Adair: I think you work on the Cedar is great. They do not do well up here. I had a nice one when I was living in California and of course its gone.
Here is the state of the above Mugo as of this last summer before some additional work I don't have good photos of and wont till I can get at the tree. Still wintered in.
I know you have seen this tree before more times than once but I wanted to give it in some sort of sequence.

Beware, they also bite fingers, (my fingers anyway) so I give em a live grass hopper to take the attention off my fingers.
Moss on vine maple used to wrap girdled/air layered vine maple.

Yea I live in kentucky bugs are pretty bad so my fingers are the last thing they're worried about.
Here's a san jose. Still a few.branches I'm up in the air about and the right adjustment for front. It's getting a nice japanese pot here soon. It has been in this plastic pot for a looong time. Will be working on compacting growth over the next several years and after some tweaking I think will be quite presentable. Will be focusing on documenting High quality pictures this year as well. I have never showed any of my trees anywhere! So pictures were never really a concern of mine. This thouht has changed for many reasons
before the hair cut .my great dane thought I was taking a picure of him!! Haha. Long way to go but I enjoy this one

I've had this tree since June of 2012, and my intended front is somewhere between these two images... lol
The tree was potted for the first time this spring and it's not quite how I would like. Next time with it established in the pot I'll be able to more easily get the angle and front perfected.

I think that I like the first photo the best overall but I like the bark in the 4th picture. It is just a nice tree. Good work.

Some might of seen my Beech in its own thread, which I will update in due course...Here it is today, after a repot/angle change....its been the slowest of all my trees to get going, but the buds are moving now..its had some thinning out out in the canopy and some tweaks
