The Tree Thread

Old picture of my nandina. R.I.P. Lost in an unexpected hailstorm last year. Ironically a large tree saved my car from serious damage when I pulled off the highway to get underneath it. The hail was bigger than golf balls for several minutes where I was...serious stuff.

Nice tree as usual. While I have winter here too, it is much shorter & milder and I am thankful for that.

Base of a yaupon I flattened yesterday. It is a raft that I feel will need to be separated eventually but will see if it survives first.

Had to use a hatchet since saws are getting clogged with dirt and the sawdust. It was a workout. :D

Sam: Is that an Azalea or a Bougie? I cannot enlarge the photo enough to tell anything other than it is an amazing tree.

Sorry I forgot the photo:

Colorado Blue Spruce from local show 2009

I agree Don, and that's just gorgeous.

Not that this in any way compares, but here's more....
Looks like one of the trunks is a bit different, don't recall the color difference so much last year. This trunk did leaf out first, maybe it's just timing.

Question for Don

Don,

I noticed your very large trident is coming out primarily red. I have several tridents, some coming out red, others more green. I imagine all will be green in time. Any idea why some hold the red color longer than others?

Thanks, Josh
