@Gabler we are sticking to brick and mortar stores. Online does not count.

@Kullas was it in their discount section or marked as clearance? Just because it was inexpensive does not mean it was clearance.

It was marked down she had 7 left and wanted to get rid of them. I won't enter this one I started its own thread

Ok, I finally picked up my first discount plant this year. Went to

Lowes for a new faucet, and of course I had to check out the plants.
Pieris japonica -mountain fire.

Immediate research tells me that this may be a very difficult subject to keep alive. There are some examples online but IDK, we will see!
Even at 50% it still feels like a splurge. 16$ gamble.

I'm in, as all my trees are clearance or collected, I've only bought 1 real bonsai tree. Won't be able to enter until fall when the spring stock goes om clearance. Have some sweet old junipers I got for $5 last year

I saw another one at Home Depot with dead graft. Sometimes you gotta just ask someone when you see things like that. It’s 50/50 they will mark them down for you. Never hurts to ask.

Oh I'm all about the clearance, I got a 6' fiddle fig for $5 at Lowes recently they just don't stock maples this far south. Lowes guarantees their trees for a year and the average buyer won't know how to keep a JM alive thru South Texas summers.
