New juniper to work over

Sorry I thought you knew how junipers grow. With time and no pruning they will stabilize and convert to adult scale foliage on their own. With pruning for shape on a constant basis they are always be in a state of stress and stay in juvenile spike foliage. Over time one can allow the plant to quiet down and stabilize. Other than shimpaku I have had no shohin juniper in full adult foliage. To be clear this is not a choice I can make. It is up to the plant and time.

Thanks for the explanation and Smoke! It's clear now :)
That explains the juvenile growth on my juniper I guess.
What do you hope for? Juvenile or adult foliage?

It will always be juvenile foliage due to trimming. In the long run that is better because I do not like them with both. I enjoy both, just not at the same time.

Kind'a looks like a Monty Python you have planed there.

Just came home from our yearly trip to the beach and turkey by the castle. We stay near Hurst Castle in San Simeon and this year was 5 days again.

I worked over the same tree I bought there last year. Worked on it on Turkey day since we were around the camp all day.

This is what I came up with for another year. Such a two dimensional picture.

Had a great dinner out on Friday night. We eat every time we go at Dorn's, a favorite eatery on the embarcadero in Morro Bay. The sky kept changing as we ate. The view out the window
