Early morning in the garden. Just about my favorite time of the day.

Can I ask where you got that cistern (is that the right name for it) in the second photo? Is it recycling the water from the bowl to pour out the bamboo?
Lovely garden as always
Awesome. I’ve been wanting to get something for water like that but have been concerned about the standing water being a mosquito breeding ground - aside from being pretty, it should solve for that as well!I got the planter at a local nursery. Made of molded concrete but don't remember the maker. Since it was meant to be used as a patio planter I had to plug the drainage hole with two-part epoxy. The system is on a simple loop. The water gets recycled via a small pump and goes back out from the bamboo spout.
I would be mine too if this was my morning view while I had my espresso and croissant...Early morning in the garden. Just about my favorite time of the day.

I really like your garden design and a lot of your trees. Perhaps someday I will construct a swamp version of this.

When I was in college, I installed this pond at my parents' house. I've thought about putting a bald cypress in it with the pot partly submerged.
I need to make a trip to Jersey just to see your garden!!!
Obviously, your trees, garden, design & photography are super amazing... but, I too am amazed by the maintenance and cleanliness. Must be a ton of work!
My yard is a fraction of the size of yours (a typical SoCal track-home yard, 50' wide); but it's still a ton of work to maintain, prune, weed and clean.
Maintenance is what really makes a Japanese garden... just like bonsai, it's a living thing, and needs constant upkeep to maintain its' beauty.
You can spend a million dollars and have a professional Japanese garden designer make it... but, it's not gonna stay that way for long (esp. the constant pruning, & also fell leaves/debris & weeds).
