A few maples are starting to turn.

Could you comment about your maples in wooden boxes on the last picture? I guess you are using clip and growth method? Will it be multi trunk or single?when will you cut? Will you cut to a branch and wait for more buts down or cut down to no visible buts?

All of those maples are different with the exception that none are trunk-chopped.

And yes, maples do in fact thrive in SF. Cool nights, only a handful of low 90’s, 30% shade cloth, wind breaks and 12hr shifts of watering duties.

Not sure if I posted these. Gives an idea of how small a regular garden is in Taiwan. "My" garden with the benches is actually 2 gardens. The house we rent's garden and the neighbors who use the house as a holiday home. I keep it tidy and they let me use it.

What the garden looks like after 4-5 weeks of being busy and vacation time away from home with subtropical island rain and sunshine. Caught a decent sized snake not long after clearing up. Luckily non-venomous.
