Mame pots on a mini pottery wheel

Thanks for the plug @Pitoon . I'm shipping out a few of these to various people tomorrow AM. If I'm going to be as fast as Amazon at this fulfillment thing I need to start keeping all the plants in the same place! (or hire thousands of people or buy all the cargo vans that Ford makes in a given year or...)

Sakura blossoms are nice, but I think Ume blossoms are nicer! Here’s an Ume blossom pot I just finished up last night. I don’t think it will be functional, but more of an art piece to display. Let’s hope it survives two rounds in the kiln.

The best things about OCD is that's the difference between good and excellent. No bridge is too, and the job isn't finished until that extra step has been taken.

So what's your personal thoughts on the Ume blossom pot?

Pots went into bisque last night and survived. The Ume blossom pot had a small blowout on the rim. I was hoping to put it in the kiln for round two today but it has to be repaired and then sent back to re bisque. The underglaze pots came out very nice. Tonight I will add the clear glaze on them so they will be ready for the ne x r firing. Doing a round two firing on these unglazed pots right now.

I'm surprised you ask, I'm infamous for fancy-schmancy pots that I think are just part of the fun of packaging a great tree with great accoutrements, -pot, kintsugi, moss, mudmen, temples & Buddhas, rocks, stand, mat, along with special accent & pot, stand, mat, scroll, et al. I have several briefcases full of every kind of stand known to mankind, -and many one-of-a-kind. I have a collection of interesting rocks, miniature figures & animals, and bugs that I have petrified. I even have a miniature Golden Temple that I'm dying to find a perfect match for...

Some people think I enjoy myself entirely too much. Old people get to a point where criticisms just roll off our back because the people who are critical are usually unhappy people looking to make others as unhappy as they are. Naturally, they are easy to wound, -targets of convenience for the initiated.

You're going to have to paint the blossoms as the characteristic white or pink petals evolving to darker pink, the kind of thing that has to be done with an airbrush. Somehow, I think we'll all be impressed when you show us the final, final.😳

I thought about glazing the petals, but then i think about just leaving them as they be, natural color of the clay.

You like insects? These guy came to visit me one night when I was grafting some trees. If you can tell me what kind of beetle this is I'll send you a lollipop! 😁

Bonsai Triceratops!
This was the largest live beetle I've ever seen.

It's an Eastern Hercules Beetle. One of the largest beetles in the US. I was lucky enough to find it because I was working on some trees at night and had the garage light on which attracted it. I'm not an insect guy, but it was really cool to find this one.

Here's a little satsuki 'Kinsai' I potted up last night. It has 3 flower buds, so lets see what happens next spring.

Many thanks to @Brian Van Fleet View attachment 391465View attachment 391466
awesome. diggin that color a lot. i like colors that appear black at first but arent under lights.
for instance, if i got a harley, id choose a dark rootbeer, burgandy, or even dark green that in shade seems black, but not with some light on it. more than meets the eye

Yeah, this pot looks black but is actually a dark dark blue. Glazes really amaze me, it's always a surprise working with them.
