Don’t quite understand the bark nuggets thing, But some very nice trees and displays there. Thanks for sharing pix.

Those three trees were from Longwood Gardens, and displayed in the hallway of the hotel between the lobby and the meeting rooms. They weren't on top of a table. It seemed like they had been put on top of decorative planters and then a backdrop put between the bonsai and the plants? Definitely had a feeling of making-the-best-of-what-we've-got instead of an intentional choice

That's the impression I got from talking to the Longwood guys on Saturday, although I didn't explicitly ask about the bark chips.

That makes more sense. It is hard to get that from individual shots.

Well 5 of us showed up for the BNUT breakfast meeting at MABS. Lively conversations about pot making, trees and various other topics.

The 4 others that did not make it. Hope everything is OK and if so, then you owe us a picture wearing a juniper or maple or pine branch hat.

@steve27, @Gabler, me, @ABCarve and @Forrest. Great meeting and sitting down with you guys for an hour plus discussion of all things bonsai

I’m so sorry I missed you at breakfast. I got in late Friday, slept late, and got to breakfast too late!

@ABCarve i met you talking to Melvyn about his wonderful display, a few of us from Northeast Bonsai Association were together.

Sorry I didn’t get to meet the rest of you while at the show - I was too busy looking at trees to see pins!

What did the awards go to?
These are the winners. If you zoom in you can see the awards.

What a fun weekend! It was my first MABS and I really enjoyed meeting a lot of great people, and enjoyed the entertaining and educational programs. I hope to get back for another year. A few more photos (I do not think I already saw these shared.
