Japanese Flowering Quince cuttings in training.

Absolutely lovely diversity!
Thanks for sharing your beauties, Thụ Thoại.

Rain in California! Who would've thought.

Nice pics :)

I haven't found any clear answers to this, but can Quince be grown from root cuttings only (like an Elm)? It seems likely or possible given that they seem to grow suckers.

Yes, definitely and quite easy too. Roots are often bent and twisted so can make great start to a new trunk unlike above ground stem which tend to be mostly straight.

really very nice flowers, the best I've seen this year. Great work, Bonhe!
Thank you for your kind words, Fredtruck

It is an interesting question.
As Shibui’s statement, it is easy to make a root cutting . Another thing you need to pay attention is that if you get the grafted quince, don’t expect the root cutting will have same characters as the grafted one .

Great, thanks for confirming my suspicion. I have about 6 root cuttings that I potted to see if they take off.

It's always delightful to see these pictures. Cheers me up, while I'm waiting for spring.
Thank you Carol 83. That is what I like, to make positive feeling to the people
