Huangshan pine in training.

I
was listing, huangshan, Japanese red pine, and Japanese black pine. Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks. I check info in this site https://conifersociety.org/conifers/pinus-hwangshanensis
It is similar to Black pine and P. nigra. It is why the seller to whom I bought the seeds from just ads as Huangshan pine .
I am guessing it might be hybrid between black pine and red pine based on the color of the buds.
They already show some interesting characters at this phase .
I found two of them have long, flexible trunks

Here is an update.
The one soaked in diluted hydrogen peroxide is named A
The one soaked in the tap water is B.
Up to this time, there are 62 seedlings out of 100 seeds in A and 19 seedlings out of 30 seeds in B.
Germination rare of A and B are 62% and 63% respectively. So, there is no significant difference between two. However, because the A and B have different soil substrates, so I will not have any conclusion at this time !

Although this one still has a “cap” on, it already sends out the new shoot!

They have been receiving only one hour of morning sun daily. Because we will have a rain tomorrow , I will move them to the site with more sunlight on Monday.

Nice.
Mine are at a similar stage. I had good germination success. Not much difference between the control and stratified.
I lost all my first batch to the herbivores in my yard. The new batch are doing well and get about 4 hours of direct sunlight a day. Most in the AM.

Thank you for sharing.
Do you have any plan to avoid the problem for this batch?
Good luck .

I have live traps out, and have spread crushed red pepper around all the seedlings.
Losses are down, and I’ve relocated a number of tree rats and squirrels.

These pine seedlings are almost 5 months old. I exposed them to direct sunlight for 2 weeks. The tallest one is about 20 cm now.

Nice.
Mine are in partial sun and only half that height. I might need to move them into a sunnier spot.

You should do it ASAP 😊
By the way, so far I learned that the Huangshan pine seedlings are very flexible and thin. This characteristic is completely different with black pine. That is why I think it will be very suitable for literati style .

most of mine were eaten or damped off. But I have 2 sole survivors haha. They are surprisingly tall with a lot of space between each needle/leaf. They have an odd growth habit
