Hacks Maples

Another note, the tree in post 24 was planted directly on the bottom of the pot. That was a tip from @Smoke in another thread

Here is an Acer palmatum Tamukeyama I bought at the 2019 spring Atlanta bonsai society show. They are noted to do well in my climate, looking forward to its repot next season.

I tried pinching new growth on this tree last year to control internode length with no luck. It doesn't have a very solid root base so I'm going to let it go now this year and see if I can strengthen that first. Then cut back and figure out the internodes more next year

Well done on having a lots of material to play with.
:), I am very happy to be entering the next phase of my bonsai journey. I should be able to begin working on developing branches and canopies... finally! Lol

Separated another standard AP today, potted and cleaned up the remaining stump, it should be ready for a training pot next year

3 yrs ago I bought several starter AP , maybe 2 yr ago I put them in the ground. Since they are all grafted I went forward with trying small layers this year. I mainly wanted to ensure they would layer and I also needed to thin them out a little to let my intended trunk lines to continue to grow larger.

This first one is an AP peaches and cream. It's a fairly vigorous grower.

This one is an AP fire glow, it only had one or two roots and both on the same side...stinker
