Did you trunk chop this in spring?I didn’t know about the life span. I did notice large leaf size. Something has been eating my leaves. If it dies I’m still learning from it. This is the first year in a pot.
yes. I'll do more w/these this spring if I ever get my azz back up North.@Underdog did the leaves reduce any while in the pot?
Lightly dusted with flour and sauteed in butter, yum!right on schedule

A pro and the local tree expert and the internet research I did all say they cannot be air layered or propagated by cuttings. My experience seems to corroborate that.Has anyone successfully air layered one? I have two on my property (in the ground). One that is 12’ and offers a few nice air layer possibilities. A second one that we collected and moved from near the large one. I collected a third (now in a pot) by the mother, it stayed dormant all growing season, hoping it opens up this spring.
I got one to root this year. It was losing leaves so I separated 2 weeks ago. It threw the rest of the leaves after separation. Now I’m waiting to see if it pulls through with some new growth.A pro and the local tree expert and the internet research I did all say they cannot be air layered or propagated by cuttings. Update…my air layer didn’t make it over winter. So far so good. Feb and March can be tougher though
