Does ANYONE really like or appreciate the bitchiness on this site?

Do a search of my trees before you comment, Smoke... I have done them on quince, potentilla, jap beech, acer campestre, mugo pine, larch - even you can get the hang of the search function? While they won't win the Kokufu they were all grown and trained from scratch...
Sorry we have moved on from grafts now....try to keep up....

Man, I have to concentrate like mad when I am reading your posts Sorce - like a first read through of some Shakespearean play!

I told Bnut to get a Sorce translator mod for the forum but still waiting! lol. Seriously, though, his posts are quirky but smart and helpful dude

Maybe for you but I think these little trees deserve more care than that. I know my trees do. But you enjoy them the way you feel looks best.
I believe in taking good photos of my trees. There's a new camera in the works so maybe I can take less crappy images of my crappy trees.

This post has run its course for me...off to offer assistance where I can...and just enjoy the forum again. Have a blessed day everyone. ?
That's a sign of maturity, knowing when to get out. Us children will stay with it till the last drop of blood is spilt. That's why mostly men do this....it's passionate and subjective. Two things men have problems with.......

To be upfront, I used to post on the Bnut forum 4 to 5 years ago under the name Cypress. At the time I was a complete beginner, over eager to create and undereducated on bonsai. I did dumb things to trees and took pictures of them and posted them. Many of which died. For the most part I was very welcomed here and received a lot of good advice. Though a big part of walking away from the forum was because of the toxicity of 1 or 2 users. 1 in particular that saw fit to make my being on these boards unbearable as if it was some kind of sport to him.

His user name was Sawgrass, though can’t recall his actual name. I’ve noticed he’s gone from the forums now, is this Stacy Muse? Basically we got into some argument, I thought he was being unfairly brutal towards me, and then he ended up looking up every single other thread I had started and trolled on all of those. It was completely pathetic to be honest and left such a bad taste in my mouth that I just didn’t want to post here anymore.

The second reason for walking away from the forum was realizing that indeed I was undereducated and over eager. And so I decided to just concentrate on the trees, did a lot of reading, took classes with Bill Valavanis.

I understood that to learn is to listen. And so I understand how frustrating it can be as a beginner to seek help and get bashed for it. But I’m also beginning to understand how frustrating it is for someone who knows a little more about bonsai to see beginners mutilating trees and try to keep cool when communicating to them.

I’ve always loved this forum, I started reading threads on here more often again this past fall and I couldn’t remember my old password and barely identify with my posting back then so I made this new account. I also wanted to present myself in a more professional manner in the bonsai world so used my name. I know now how frustrating I was for some people back then, but there was an extreme level of toxicity thrown at me by at least one person. It exists. But I see both sides of the coin now. Glad to be back and more active in the forum, I’m more of a silent observer these days.

Cheers!

Sorce

Before Bnut created an ignore button, I created my own ignore button for 2 special people here.
Smoke and Sawgrass...The sad thing is when I met both of them in real life they were both somewhat respectful.
Their internet consumption tends to transmit diseases in them called knowitallitis and Imalwaysrightitis.

I fully understand you @sorce and thank you for pointing it out ...... seriously most of the time people take offense at silly silly things.....being an adult also means ignoring things sometimes.

Mike, twisted trees here, formerly and mostly addressed as Alan Adair. Another acolyte of Bill's. Are you going to come to the club show?

I’ve heard you name around before, you’re the Larch master, yes? I’ve been attending the Finger Lakes BS meeting here in Ithaca, where I live, for some time now. I did come up to Rochester to see Bjorn’s pine demo this past fall. It’s a bit of a drive from Ithaca but i’ve got a buddy to carpool with and I’m planning to start attending the Rochester club meetings on a monthly basis as well. Looking forward to it!

My reputation is...well...hmmm...Let's not go there. I look forward to meeting you. Although we'll probably remember each other. It's cool to connect with anothernutter.

Hahaha will “Larch guy” suffice? ???. Yea I’ll definiely make it up for the club show. Actually Dave Paris just came down to our March FLBS meeting and ran a shohin workshop with red pines. FLBS is kind of the red headed step child of BSUNY ?. But we’re growing everyday it seems like!
