DIY cement pots.

Years ago I made one out of Hydraulic Cement which was both water repellant and quick drying which lasted for over 8 years with a nice Juniper in it, until my nephew "watered" my plant with Fanta orange soda and it died. I put the pot in the back of my truck and forgot about it, in the next year it became covered with asphalt and grease so I tossed it, still intact though.

I have pots that are 25 years old...but my climate is different. You can throw them much further than a ceramic pot and they dont break.

I think fiber might help with the expansion and shrinkage due to cold ...hot cycles.
There is a guy in Czechoslovakia, that uses white cement with reinforcement... Walter Pall buys pots from him and he has very hash winters. They are beautiful!
Some of my new ones...they are a bit big since they are training pots.

what is the best way to waterproof these cement pots?
You dont really need to waterproof them...I use rubber swimming pool paint to make sure the roots are not in contact with the cement which has high PH>
