A tree with a lot of flair...
I can really appreciate it in that third picture.....I say outstanding!Trying to get a shot that captures just how bright orange it is, but haven’t quite gotten it yet.
The back side is healthier to be sure, no deadwood showing at the chop or surface roots.looking good. To me, From the pics it seems the back looks to be wider at the soil surface, almost beefier. Can’t tell if it’s just the photo or not. Was it two years since the last repot?
Hey Eli! It has callused to some degree. Pay no attention to the algae...Brian, as you know, I love this tree. I'm curious, has the cut on the current front never begun to callous over? If not, is this by design?
Keep up the great work!
I see, it's been hard to tell from more distant photos. I'm trying to have my game together to join you guys in May... Working toward it.Hey Eli! It has callused to some degree. Pay no attention to the algae...
We really need to talk pots at some point. This one needs about another 1/2” of depth.

If you’re coming, I’ll show it. At the very least, carve out 90 minutes to swing by for a tour of the garden.I see, it's been hard to tell from more distant photos. I'm trying to have my game together to join you guys in May... Working toward it.
I agree. This happens to me all the time. I think it's good, it continues your interest in developing a tree that is near to finished.Starting to think the back could be a good front...

I can see Hawthorns have their own myccorhizae, haven't they?Repotted this one too. View attachment 231163View attachment 231164
Mr. Van Fleet I have a question, though, Sir.Cool night shot of the hawthorn taking off. Going to let it grow wild for a couple months...
Could it be that the main right hand branch/trunk that forms the apex is crossing another branch? Normally with a broom you have all branches/trunks going up and out, but that one goes out and then back in, which causes it to cross other branches. It also lacks taper. However, I think that's a minor point and I'm not sure I would change it at this point. This is looking so nice and bright in the night!Mr. Van Fleet I have a question, though, Sir.
Some thing is bothering my ignorant eye but I cannot concentrate on what it is... So, looking at the above photo on my computer monitor, I moved my head farther back and looked at the photo with eyes half-closed. Then I realized that the right side of the tree is probably what makes me wonder...
What are your thoughts on the above, if I may ask? Is it perhaps the angle of the photograph?
Thank you in advance.
