Yea,plant the cube now or spring, just remove the plastic and do not disturb the stonewool or roots at all……..the cubes can freeze just fine
Drying will not be a problem they will stay wet for 30 days when the stonewool is wrapped in saran wrap………put in slight shade though for a week if in the post for more than 4 days and then i to the sun……siberian elm need sun….moreso than the chinese elmMine were supposed to arrive Saturday but the post office messed up and sent them on to another town instead of out for delivery. Kind of annoying they made it to my local post office and then got sent away... hopefully they wil;l make it here before they dry out. I'm glad to hear they are packed well.
Its a juvenile thing with these….it goes away.Anyone else notice that even though they're elms, they have opposing buds instead of alternating?
@cmeg1, is that just amazing your method works that it puts out buds wherever it can? Because if so that's amazing
They arrived on Weds, looking a little pale, but they still had plenty of water. I put them in the unheated greenhouse for now and they greened up again right away. And I will put them outside in a few days.Drying will not be a problem they will stay wet for 30 days when the stonewool is wrapped in saran wrap………put in slight shade though for a week if in the post for more than 4 days and then i to the sun……siberian elm need sun….moreso than the chinese elm
Lloads of pine in Spring
The ones I salvaged from the extreme heat event did not grow well.
I am propogating now though…….have a lot of time to grow many for spring……..last spring my ac was not up to par and I missed the ball on the swing.
Thanks!
I think I will just toss them in the cold frame to see what happens……..I have not been watering them………To me a pine without its terminal bud for winter is just to risky…..as far as effective time useDo you still have the salvaged ones I'd like a few of them.
Looking forward to it!! Thanks for all your great work, Curtis.Lloads of pine in Spring

I am a firm believer of both myco and bacteria………bacteria more because it is great in low npk hydroponic fertilizer as it helps break down root exudates and then to release npk directly on the roots for more feed with less salts.Do you take any active steps to encourage mycorrhizae to grow in the substrate of your pines? What level of mycorrhizae/mycelium do you observe when you work the roots?
