Climate change

Hi,

For those who are truly interested
https://www.epa.gov/climate-indicators

I thought the present government of the USA had purged the EPA of all the communists????

Those at the top were replaced, but there are still a lot of "civil servants" that are doing their job with so much honesty and ethics that it's almost unbearable. The dogma is :

"There's no global warming, Darnold T. will make the climate great again".

All the rest is fake news.

Rake America great again. Let your kids try to clear the chaos.

And it's about the same everywhere.

Descartes once wrote:

"Le bon sens est la chose du monde la mieux partagée"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/René_Descartes

He was wrong. Apparently, stupidity is what is most shared around the world.

At least, since I have a social life, not only my kids have a critical spirit, I can help others. Makes me feel, not "great", but proud

No, it's not about "pride", it's just about common sense.

We have to make corporations use cleaner energy to reduce emissions. On the new report that was released yesterday there are several suggestions on things to assist. Like stop flying and take a bus instead. Insulate your home better. Two examples.
Wind and solar energy is the future.
Why wouldn’t we want to use those if they are available over other options???
A lot of blame was placed on individual uses but the corporate sector does way more damage than individuals. I am willing to do my share.
Because they are not available; expletive deleted. Let's see you run your life without an automobile, let's see you run a car on solar or wind power.

Communists should have no fear here ---you are still here.

In parts of the world where they look for solutions rather than say "there is nothing we can do" that puzzle is being solved.

Like where is that puzzle being solved? There is nothing I would like more than put a gaggle of assholes out of work that make merchandise on criticizing the people that work for a living by trying to put us out of work through the accusations that we are destroying the environment.

Have no fear, I'm not a communist, I'm a socialist :D

Being European, I know what communism, and fascism is. I know much more than you about all that. I know it in my own flesh, where I live and from my family.

That's why I hate nazis, fascists, and why I'll always fight against half-wits that pave the way for con-men and their stupid supporters.

As long as I live, I'll try to make stupid people get the light, mind you, that's not religion, it's just being intelligent (from latin "intellegere").

Can you imagine, I live in a world where only bad people have guns, I live in a world where more and more people want to share, not exclude.

I won't develop, you wouldn't understand. Can you understand what common sense is ?....

Oh that's not your religion, is it ?

I will try to remember that I am not worthy to talk to you.

We have electric cars and solar powered cars are being tested. Soon electric cars will be more affordable. Chevy has one now ( the bolt) Some cities are using water energy to create electricity. Some are using wind already. We just have to find better ways at more affordable prices so the population can make the switch. By recycling plastic in our homes we reduce methane in the landfills.
We can do better and we should try. The government should encourage cleaner energy alternatives and give discounts to those that switch. This has worked in the past.

If you would look at the sites you could read in the article from Chalmers University of Technology:

Liquid storage of solar energy – more effective than ever before

Researchers at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden have demonstrated efficient solar energy storage in a chemical liquid. The stored energy can be transported and then released as heat whenever needed. The research is now presented on the cover of the scientific journal Energy & Environmental Science.

Many consider the sun the energy source of the future. But one challenge is that it is difficult to store solar energy and deliver the energy ‘on demand’.

A research team from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, has shown that it is possible to convert the solar energy directly into energy stored in the bonds of a chemical fluid – a so-called molecular solar thermal system. The liquid chemical makes it possible to store and transport the stored solar energy and release it on demand, with full recovery of the storage medium. The process is based on the organic compound norbornadiene that upon exposure to light converts into quadricyclane.

I think if you would look for it, you would find that solar and wind energy generate more jobs and income than oil industry.

Where does the energy to charge these cars come from????? More importantly what does it cost to replace the batteries when they go bad and they will? Can they be replaced at all or do we have to replace the entire car leaving us with the question of what to do with the debris of our hubris??? Where do we dispose of the used and depleted batteries???? You wrote: By recycling plastic in our homes we reduce methane in the landfills. You are correct but we replace that recyclable material with toxic battery wast.

Recycle the batteries.
They already do this with old lead batteries.

Electric car batteries can be replaced.
I know people are not going to give up their cars. Chevy has an 8 year/ 100k warranty on the battery. I hope one day we do make the full switch. As the technology comes along hopefully we will do better at reducing landfill mass and emissions. I think there are a lot of steps individuals can contribute. We do need cities on a local level to promote clean living.

Wind solar, wave

Ready the sites I showed you. It is more than just batteries. Is is about a fotosensitive energy carrier, which reverts to the original state once you use the energy..

You wrote: By recycling plastic in our homes we reduce methane in the landfills.
No I did not. I also do not understand how recycling plastics does anything for methane in landfills. But then I grew up in a country where landfills are the last resort only, and very strict rules alpply as to what waste is allowed to be dumped there. Only ~2% of the waste in the Netherlands goes to landfil. The rest is recycled (~82%) or burnt (~15%). The energy from burning is then used to generate electricity & used for direct-heating of houses and goverment buildings in that city.

Where do we dispose of the used and depleted batteries?
Solutions like this come to mind:http://www.thedrive.com/tech/21946/nissan-uses-148-leaf-batteries-to-power-amsterdam-stadium

Again.. Some countries are not thinking about how things are affecting current jobs, but look for the economies of the future, and how to create an all-over cleaner future. But well. I guess I could be talking to a brick wall. People that do not want to see the options out there, will only deny and see problems.

Naturally, for those that are interested.. My university works together with e.g., https://www.twence.nl/en/ but aso with the beforementioned lithiumwerks in improving these systems.

Many countries do a way better job than America to help solve the burden. We should be paying attention and following along.

Yes it's going to be like sitting around the fire dreaming of manned flight and living under the sea again.

I know. In your world this sounds like fairy tales. IN my world this is dayly business.
Daly business should be made of seeking truth from truth and not making up crap out of whole cloth slamming the door on the things that support us at the moment. Some day we will get much of what we need from the Moon and Mars and it's moons. But first we have to get there and we can only dream of the journey, and the methods of doing it. The reality of it is beyond any of our life times.
