Bjorn moving to US permanently

Yeah I've been following his vlog, only recently. He has a great playlist, almost like teaching in each video. Its not himself but other Japanese Teachers, not sure if they are masters or not but very knowledgable.

Its Japanese teaching of Bonsai, maybe not everyones thing given the different types of Bonsai art that people follow. Has great little learning bits in each one, from needle pruning pines, styling shimpaku, etc. Quite specific stuff but a good 40 odd episodes.

I rather enjoy his techniques and styling approach. One thing in paticular is when he makes a jin, he doesnt peel the bark all the way back to the trunk, he leaves some bark. As he mentioned, it looks more natural.

Its just too bad that he will be too far away for me.

Regardless, ill enjoy his skills and demos from youtube

I saw that and wish them success. When I met him a couple of years ago, he seemed like a really good guy :)

I also like that he said he was shifting some focus toward deciduous trees (long term projects) and away from the "instant transformations" so commonly seen in videos featuring conifers.

I know his father rather well and he mentioned that to me a while ago with regards to Bjorn finding a nice piece of land to establish a bonsai school and nursery.

Bjorn is one of the most talented and down to earth guys practicing bonsai today. It is incredibly refreshing to see someone so humble and yet so talented. I respect him greatly and wish him continued success!

I'm very much looking forward to having Bjorn visit our club this May. Coincidentally (probably not) over the weekend when we will be hosting our Spring Show 2017. Two days of workshops and show critique. Should be fun!

Bjorn is one of the guest artists in Dallas at the LSBF Convention this weekend.

F*** Bjorn; is that your tree!? (just kidding about Bjorn).

Haha, sadly no. It's a California Juniper that was collected by the late Harry Hirao, and Bjorn worked it at the GSBF convention in 2015 (another headliner at the convention, John Wang, snapped the photo). I think the tree sold at the auction for around $4k.

Seeing you on this photo Colin, I wonder, have you ever been asked to join a pirate metal band?
