I've still not seen this thread everyone's talking about where people argued bonsai isn't art..
But for obvious reasons I won't share my opinion on that here.

Can't something be and not be an art but still like the trees? I don't see any of it as mutually exclusive..

This is a great thread, nice antidote to that horrid other thread with all the arguing and condescension about art and whose is bigger or better.

I am squarely in the camp of "I don't really care if bonsai is art, I just like the trees." After all, art is like what that Supreme Court Justice of old said about pornography, you know it when you see it. For bonsai, you work on trees for some period of time either trying to make them look like pictures of great bonsai you've seen or just trimming and wiring, and then one day it happens: you've done your thing and you just know you made it with that tree. It speaks to you and your personal sense of art. And there's usually no crowd standing behind you voting on whether or not you got it right. Now that's how to do bonsai.

For me I post my best and most artistic tree in my sig so it is always there, it was inspired by the composer John Cage's enigmatic musical masterpiece.
I call my tree "Bonsai: 4 minutes and 2 zero seconds". It's pure art, really makes you think...... oh wait, I don't care either.

Here are some flowers.

It's been some minutes that I just did stop caring, too!
Photos of mine, a little later, if anyone cares...

I envy your willow leaf.
I have one over here with a beautiful (to my eyes) trunk and I am trying to get back budding but it is stubborn (due to my climate conditions I believe)

Yes, please post!

I'm avoiding the thread now...it's ran its course in my brain. I know where bonsai stand in my own heart...and at the end of the day. That's good enough for me.

Dave's getting some sun on that yard!
Sorce, I don't care about much, but I do care about when you're due for an upgrade on that phone, bro.

A JBP from Brussel's; twice worked on by Peter Warren in 2011, my work since. Needs a good pot soon:

I like every single person's post here!!!! I just didn't feel like clicking "like" 253243673 times.:rolleyes::D

Yesterday I was browsing the net and saw some things on non traditional bonsai. Then I come on here and I think it was Sorce who collected a little shrub from somewhere in the landscape of his life LOL

I was inspired........I have tons of weeds in my yard and some have really woody stems..........so I walked around my yard and put this together in a few min. Didn't have any pot small enough. Even the bottom of this water bottle is too big lol

I believe it to be false buttonweed but I may be wrong it does have white flowers. Its ugly in my lawn, but the movement in this one was kind of cool.

Plus they don't die...ever.....kinda the perfect bonsai tree? haha

So anyway felt like going outside the box and here it is:
