This is not for the BNut luminaries. You know who you are and we live you.

For the rest of BNutters, who might you be if you continue on your path?

For me,

I think I might be the Peter Chan of bald cypress.
Think about it.

Peter seems to have an endless supply of JM.

He can ax them, whack them, split them, break them, crush them and they will bud and grow again.

Sometimes he makes good bonsai; other times he just makes something.

Now substitute JM with BC and Peter with CJR. Well?

Who might you be then?

I blame this thread on sleep deprivation.

I'm a big time sucker for japanese quince, so I'd really hope some of my projects becoming something approximating the wonders Michael Hagedorn achieves with his chojubai. I've already got the irreverence down to pat, so I'm like a quarter of a way there!

Not when you move to PA... 🤷‍♂️
Saying this regretfully...

...it almost sounds blasphemy to say it. But the late Nick Lenz... as he was a recluse of sorts...and rolled to the beat of his own drum.

But clearly...I putz about. But I do believe end of the day he had it right. Do what makes you happy. I tend to do that already.

Who has a bunch of trees that has no direction? Because that’s me. No direction because I’m afraid to pick a direction…
Yea I've had a few trees I couldn't decide what to do with. I just leave em on the bench and keep looking at them until they tell me what they want to be or inspiration strikes

Absolutely...it's better to let them sit. Than rush a design. I've had that a time or two.

I would love to be any of the ones in the West who managed to quit their day jobs. Bonus points if it’s one of those who don’t travel much for work AND have a regular salary.

I guess what I’m saying is I’d like to be Warren Hill or Dave de Groot!

Well.. Nigel Saunders comes to mind..
I think I would be the European Nigel Saunders. More trees than you can show on video, always something to do, and wondering why I hold onto a paid job.
I already consider you to something of the sort.

Further in my path, I liked to be thought of in similar regards as to Eric Schrader, John Eads, and Michael Hagedorn. My first goal post is to be more like Cmeg currently.

I really like growing trees from seed. Providing quality beginner trees to my local area is my current bonsai goal with my next big step being to get a house with a big enough space to begin my operations. For now, I am getting my trial and error steps out of the way.
