Working some trees today

Yeah the two main differences between your examples and my tree are...

1. Trunk with some nice curves. Mine was arrow straight between branches.
2. Your bark was something to look at, mine is something to ignore.

Pretty large differences in the life of a literati. A big difference between long and lanky and actual style, mine the former, yours the later!!

No, ho back and look at the second tree. smooth grey juvenile bark. Just like yours.
 
So I like where my tree is going, the only thing I wonder is about the graft. Will it ever look better? I'm not too interested in what I could do if it was taller. Thanks though!
 
The graft will look better when the JWP juvenile bark begins to peel off, revealing the mature bark underneath. Then it will more closely resemble the bark if the root stock.

This was the best usually begins to happen somewhere around 20 years of age.

I do notice that the bark is starting to look like it is bubbling. I guess I'll wait for a while and see what happens.

It splits vertically. Chunks start to lift off.
