Winter's still here and won't leave

It's snowing here. This is getting ridiculous.

Don't have a lot of mountains here in the Midwest. I don't think cross country skiing in a corn field would be as much fun as you and your family are having, but at least you aren't bitter about the weather, like I am!
I may start to get bitter soon here. Ski hill closed for the season today and I still have a good 4’ of snowpack on the trees. There is some warmth in the forecast, it think I’ll get my yard back before long.

You could try getting pulled by a horse on your xcountry skis or something maybe??

May hit 100 degrees here on Wednesday. You guys put on layers to keep warm...we get down to our skivies and there aint no lower to go...without severe sunburn ?

Looks like someone could get another bougy to cheer up.

I have some things shipping today! No bougies, but still lightens my mood.

Spring has slowly arrived finally, about four weeks later than usual. Average temperatures 10 C during day 5 C overnight. So a range of 50 F to 40 F. Snow is still evident higher up, will not be collecting in the higher elevations before June with the snow pack this year. View out my window this morning. Daffodils were in full bloom for Easter. Chojubai flowered very nicely in the unheated greenhouse. Most trees are out of protection and out on the benches. Winter Heather strikes a cheery note in the rock benches. Things are looking up on vancouver island.

Not to say "I told ya so," but I told ya so ;). This winter is a real beeotch. I said back in Feb. when it was 70-80 here in the middle Atlantic states not to take anything out of storage and try to keep things dormant for as long as possible.

We've had what five or six nor'easters with snow and heavy wind. This weekend and the week beyond will be among the most challenging of the season for everyone from New England to N.C.. We're forecast to have temps down in the mid-20's and very low 30's at night.

I have trees that are in leaf or recently repotted outside. I have been keeping all of that stuff under mulch for the last month. I plan on keeping it outside during the coming cold snap, but with heavy mulch on their roots. I also plan on spraying everything in leaf with mist before I got to bed on Saturday and Sunday, possibly into next Mon. Tues and Wed. That will help insulate new leaves from the freeze. I will get some freeze damage on leaves, but there's no way I can store everything in the basement this year. It's stuffed with all kinds of furniture and other things at this point.

Keep your fingers crossed that we get some kind of snow on Saturday. That will help a bit.. Good Luck!
April 9th snowing as I post this. Feels like January 81st!!! Here in southern Wisconsin.

Waters Commercial Heat and AC just now called me - The new Central AC System is being installed Thursday :P

Second month of almost non-stop rain. No end in sight. Serious SADS setting in.

The news said...be prepared for a colder spring. We have two days of typical spring days this Friday and Saturday. But to expext low 50's for the first part of May. Very unusual cold temps for us.
