Whats Going on in Smoke's Backyard?

I will let you know tomorrow, I have a Spruce that I know the wire is totally ingrown and impossible to remove. I have done nothing more than keep it alive for years, maybe it's time I look at it.
Where's the freakin picture of the spruce....inquiring minds want to know????

I forgot I was going to post a picture. Oddly I was looking at it the other day and you can't even see the wire anymore. Anyway I promised so I guess I have to deliver.

Not sure about the shorts you're wearing on your avatar, but your trees a looking really good. Thanks for updating us. I pick up something new every time you show us pictures of your yard. Looks like you've got some layering in your future. This time I noticed the tie down wires you have on your benches. Are they just loops of insulated aluminum wire? How do you adjust them?

Very nice collection, I love the look of old (or old looking?) wooden shelves.

That's a lot to care for with all you have on your plate. Glad you have found a way to keep the varmints from eating your crops.

Wow, what a collection! It looks like you only have mesh around a few trees. Do the squirrels only target a certain species?

How the hell do you keep up with them all.........

I'm waiting for the leaves to fall before pruning this maple back. It's getting too large to be considered shohin and the branches are getting longer and longer.
Many branches are crossing and a little large. Still working on a pot for this one. Any ideas....in my budget.

I have a small 1/2 screw eye in the back of each shelf. Then I have a screw eye on the front of the shelf. I use 18 gauge galvanised steel wire because the squirrels would sharpen their teeth on the aluminum wire. The wire is covered with a length of silicone aquarium tubing for purchase on the pot. The wire is just wrapped around the screw eye with the eye keeping the wire from falling off yet be easy to take off and put on.
