Hi!

I got this tree a while ago. Not sure what to do with it. Please share some insights, development photos and advices.

It is a young tree with a thin trunk. Bonsai or not? Do not want to waste it.

Thanks as always!

Where did you get the tree from ?
Compare the foliage with thuja or maybe even juniperus is possible but im almost sure its not hinoki foliage i see here .
Use plant finder or google lens or Just look up pictures and compare

Thanks. I got it from eBay… just described as chamaecyparis obtusa. You are right- it does not really look like one. Ok I will check.

Without knowing what conifer it is, can I assume it is full Sun and moderate drainage?

In the UK most hinoki are grafted onto thuja. At any rate they can take full to part sun and prefer it on the moist side. I use a well drained mix but add about 20-30% pine bark to help moisture retention but in your climate 10% may be enough with your rainfall.
