Hi there!

I bought from local nursery a tree described as "Chamaecyparis juniperifolia" but i couldn't find any information about this variety. I called this nursery and told them about difficulties with finding anything named like that but they were just trying to ensure me that this is correct name...

Do you have any clue?

It is a Chamaecyparis pisifera. The cultivar may be 'Nana Berg's’. At least it is very similar to this cultivar but it could be 'juniperfolia'. It is certainly pisifera.

Thank you, I am a newbie and I still don't have good understanding of finding optimal growing conditions for different varieties and cultivars. If you be so kind and just ensure me am I right. All cultivars of pisifiera has very similar requirements about sun, soil and cuting/pruning and the only difference is theirs appearence?

BTW could you recommend some good source of basic information about shrubs/trees? I've bought i.a. the collins tree guide, my native trees/shrubs atlas, but there are only descriptions how they look, where they grow, few words about varieties but still don't know anything about preferred soil acidity, how does it react for cutting, pruning... ofc digging in internet usually gives me some answers but if there is some good source of knowledge I will be grateful to hear about it :)
