Well. Took me an extra hour to get home yesterday trying to get around the flooding. It rained a ton, roads are flooded, town is about to go under water and the river won't crest till tomorrow. Lucky us, the rain just turned over to snow.

Re potted a few trees.

Made some beer with my fiancée. While we were siphoning the wort into the carboy the hose slipped out and I got a wort shower. The kitchen is fairly sticky now.

The malt cans are nice but have you ever tried the Dried Malt Extract kits? It’s been a long time but I used to buy from this local company. They have a clone for about everything. 😉

My outdoor tempatures have finally risen above freezing.

Today I gave a light pruning to my Flaky Fir to try some cuttings. I am also trying to do some more air-layers on it. I'd love to get one of these on their own roots and to hopefully propagate this species/cultivar in the future.

This Fir is also pushing some lower buds. Three total have opened up. The tree was a little too tall to get a full picture inside the house.

Avoided the rain and set the structure on this blue spruce. Going for a long feminine tree now I just have to decide on an apex….any suggestions?
Hey Mike,

Pulled some images for inspiration on your spruce. Think minimal and elegant. Need to bring the trunk into proportion.

We had a one gallon kit but this is our first time using the 5 gallon setup my uncle gave us. My fiance got a few kits for Christmas so we can get the hang of the system then we'll start trying to come up with our own recipes so this link will be helpful thank you! We are also looking to get hops rhizomes from our neighbors in the spring.

I was already trying to look up how to make our own Malt extract.

The first one you posted is one I had saved, love that tree. Thank you for the pics much appreciated!

I decided to make some bonsai art today. I’ve had this old plow disc laying around, I found it a few years ago while stalking the woods looking for material. A few drill bits, three railroad spikes and a few welds later here it is. The first of hopefully more plow disc bonsai pot. It measures a whopping 18 inches across. @rustygarden
