I was watering my trees the other when I noticed this funky little guy. I apoglise for the quality. The phone wouldn't focus on the subject.

Anyways, this is a Korean Fir 'Ice Breaker' that I repotted in the spring. The interesting thing to note on it is that a root grew out of the substrate, into the air, and then back down.

try switching to portrait mode. then the phone will focus on the subject, not the background

Cleaned up a Ficus full of figs for the incoming growing season and enjoyed a beer. Pot suggestions welcome.

I like the trunk on that one, maybe a shallow shaped edge rectangle with strong feet in a moss green to olive green shade to contrast the bark and compliment the figs

like this? or even darker green

All I did was move this recently dug Crenata to the work bench... rest of the day was spent peach picking and fighting wasps, bees, hornets...

First nest, bald hornets above my secondary bench:

next was this wasp nest under the front porch... I was actually building a ladder rack for my extension ladders and surprisingly while screwing in the threaded rod anchors, the other night none attacked me. Simply walked by this afternoon and zapp!

Then while walking along the other side of the house saw a small wasp go into this hole.... so thatll get sealed up tonight too...

Picked up this unwanted barberry.
It was probably ran over at some point of time.
There was another smaller dead trunk to the left of the quarter, which fell off when the tree came out of the ground. There are almost no roots on that side, but plenty on the opposite.
Nice bark too. It was close to 30 degrees to the gound... We'll see if it survives.

Separated my Shigishigastra maple air layer.
Removed the pot that the air layer was in. The sphagnum that was in the pot stayed intact. I just potted it into a bigger pot with more sphagnum moss and some lava and pumice mixed in.

It took a bit of a beating from the sun and wind while it grew new roots but I think it will be ok

What is wrong with this pot? I like the colors and shape for the tree IMHO... Maybe a little big?

This little Hinoki Cypress was languishing in the garage under a grow lamp for too long... Parked him in an Iker pot!

Visually, yeah, but it could probably benefit from the extra space for a minute

Played with some display options for an up coming club show. These are not the stands I will use just something I had on hand to get the heights right.
Very nice & good luck at the show. What's the tree on the right? I think I know, but it would be nice to tell everyone else. ;)

Those look great! If you’re taking opinions, I like the kusamono in the first picture - but the one in the second is small enough to not compete as much with the hinoki so I can definitely see why you’re considering it

Regardless, nice display!

Thanks for the input guys. Oh man choosing pots is hard. It's mostly the depth thats bothering me. I think i'll grow out the canopy, work on it for a while then decide. I also like the shape @Mikea454 suggested, mabe in lighter colors.

Agree kusamono in the first picture is nicer but too big for this display.
