I'm sure I read some where that Junipers and other trees can take 2 to 3 years to airlayer and some will only be prop from seed
Depends on the species and your timing/care of the airlayer I've had an airlayer root in 3 months on some juniper.

Edit: forgot picture.

This is one of my favorite trees from Milwaukee Bonsai show last weekend that belongs to another club member. It's a lodgepole pine with Japanese white pine grafted onto it. The grafts are invisible. There was maybe one branch in the back that I could tell was a graft.

Went to the final day of the Milwaukee Bonsai Society’s Annual Exhibit to pick up my trees and catch up with Bjorn. Loaded the trees back up and finalized agreement for the acquisition of Bjorn’s iconic One Seed Juniper known as The Tornado. Waiting on recent photos as it’s been allowed to grow out through this year but below are some previous photos of it.

I’m surprised Bjorn was willing to part with that tree. It’s a keeper for sure.

Edit: Oops! I forgot what thread this was in. It’s not from today, but here’s a picture from the show I attended this weekend (tree is by Cyril Grum).

The tree has always been for sale but due to the size(and the asking price), it’s remain unsold. Well until now! Excited to bring her to Wisconsin!

Finished rebuilding my deck and trenched lines for the greenhouse so was able to finally set the new spot for the mother-daughter Doug Fir.

The Tornado is a giant, and iconic tree. I commend you for taking on the care taker role. I mean everything about moving it and keeping it healthy must be a planned out and meticulous process.
I hope you start a new thread on the tree and keep is in the loop.

Pic below of me finding some Passion flowers recently. The fruit/seed pods look like limes. I will come back when they are ripe so I can grow some of my own.

Did a little preliminary shopping for my incoming BC yesterday. Wasn't sure what soil to park it in so I got a few different flavors. It arrives tomorrow and I am slightly "Geeked"!

Excellent screen grab from the styling stream! I’m gonna add it to the file for the tree. It’s definitely one of my favorites as well.

Edited to add photo: this was last week but gotta pay the photo tax!

Volunteer day at the Clark Collection. Showed up to find the water pressure too low to push through the drip watering system. Everything was toooo dry and the pressure from the hose was very low. Took me 2 hrs to hand water everything with the low water pressure. Apparently a city water issue. Hope it's fixed really soon.

Maple forest pic to follow the rules.

Cut up some pallet/crate wood for more grow boxes. I have permission to collect a few things this weekend, one of which is a sizeable tree so... getting prepared

I call these 10pc Boxes. You can maks them with no measuring tape.

Cut 1 pair of short boards and 1 pair of long boards.
20230830_193941.jpg

The long boards are the front. The short boards are the sides and get inset slightly.
20230830_194010.jpg

Measure boards for the base by simply marking the overall width. Cut enough to fill completely. If you need a thinner board, just slice it carefully with an axe or hatchet. On its end. Gaps are ok.

Cut 4 thin feet. And attach on sides.

Nail together. I use a pneumatic nailer. I can make one in 5 min flat.

I received two everbearing dwarf mulberries today.
