Today , flea market in kodai temple in Kyoto....The most expensive was this 40 years old JWP with a price tag of 12000 yen (about 80$ ). The mame where 5 to 15$. Some times I think it's better not to look at them and suffer

That has to be torture not being able to buy anything.

Noted the scales on Juniper 1, 2, and 3 are laying down on the primaries and hardening.

Also cleaned up Juniper 3, removing certain downward growth and kept a few select branches to maintain their health at the base and assist in thickening the tree.

Up potted my bald cypress I got from our own Cjr @Cajunrider
It grew a lot and I had fill up the tray twice a day. The roots were coming out of the holes in the pot. Put it in a grow bag and an oil pan.
When I first got it it had two prominent roots on the sides and a small root in the back. The smaller root started to grow and created a small battress (battressette?).
Very happy with the progress. Turned it around too. Should've done more often. You can see the cut paste at were it was chopped and this is the size when I first got it.20230823_162334.jpg20230823_162344.jpg20230823_163338.jpg20230823_164726.jpg

Looking so good.

Today I bought a cypress (Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Blue Moon') for bonsai cultivation purposes of course. I’ll let it be in its current pot until spring and then have a bit of chopping at it and prune some roots before the repot.

I’m psyched even though I’ve heard people suggest to let it grow more in a nursery pot before trying to “bonsai” it.

Visited Thomas Edison's factory museum and house in West Orange, NJ.
Library at the factory.

He and his wife are buried on the grounds of their house, Glenmont, and have exact replicas of Japanese lanterns by their gravestones. A bit close to bonsai?

Can you believe the size of this rhododendron? Looks like it fell and was cut down recently. Pardon the ugly hand with poison ivy.🙄

And the house. And I'll let you be at this...
