Nice! I was at New England Bonsai the night Gerald brought in his huge shipment of trees. There were a lot of awesome little black pines. I’ll regret it, but buying one just wasn’t in the budget.Happen to grab that off Bonsai Outlet? I see they have a new batch from Gerald Rainville:

Sure did! I was looking at that one too but promised the Mrs. I wouldn’t go too crazy and ended up with this one. Got some wire bite I need to take care of today and hopefully style it back into something less bushyHappen to grab that off Bonsai Outlet? I see they have a new batch from Gerald Rainville:

Good candidates for practice!Another JM labeled as Atropurpureum.
Not saying it's anything too special, but it certainly presents some striking differences in leaf color, size and internode length. New one is to the left of typical Atropurpureum.

Will practice airlayering on it next year.
Cold frame accessories.
Question: if I am making a 4' by 8' cold frame - how long of a heating cable would you use?
I got a 30' length, thinking I'd lay it back and forth 3 times lengthwise - but I'm thinking maybe that's not enough?
It will also be against the house, so should get some heat from that.

It's a cold frame so why would you use any kind of heater?Question: if I am making a 4' by 8' cold frame - how long of a heating cable would you use?
I wouldnt use any heat source in the cold frame.
I dont have one in mine. I just cover it when it gets below freezing.
