Honey bees have taken up residence in one of the lampposts in our yard. FYI, they do not like the noise of the lawnmower!

That's going to be tough, there's only a tiny hole in the post.

It should be an assembly of parts screwed together. If you can't put it back together, buy a new light and put the nest materials into a different container somewhere else where you can steal their honey every autumn.

It's actually an antique from the hayday at Gas Light Square in St.Louis. We called a local bee society to see if they would come and get them but they said they couldn't move an established hive. I don't like honey, or any sweets actually, so no great loss. I don't mow the grass, so they don't bother me.

Four baby bluebirds 10 days old. My wife and I have really enjoyed watching the parents feed them this summer. I’m hoping they will nest one more time this summer.

The babies have fledged, my wife and I got see two leave the nest yesterday. There was one in the nest early this morning and fledged while I was on my walk. Mom and Dad are still coming to the feeder and taking it to the babies up in the trees.

The turtle doves who built their nest on my gutter have done good work .

There were two broods with two babies each time .
Here are the last two that will soon take off.

Every night around 6 we have doves fly in to have a drink of water and a dip in the pool. Great dinner time show for us.
