Wanted: Acer Palmatum ‘Seigen’

Separated the other one about 10 days later. So far, both layers are doing well.

I went back and dug the parent tree a week or so ago. It’s getting pretty big too, and will go back in the ground in the new back yard.

Did a little root work and potted these in shallower containers today.
Bigger one:
My goodness! Lots of root's from those air lawyer... This is encouraging since I started three air layers yesterday on my seigen, I did hurt my back as well though so no pictures ;(
For what I can see seigen is more pinkish in spring while benichidori is more orange. Although Brian's has been doing well in the ground they are much slower in a training pot... So I guess I'll get let's rooting if any at all :\
Any updates?

Is anyone aware of anywhere still carrying these trees, small ones perhaps? link above doesn't have any and they are sold out anywhere else that lists them that I saw.

If you mean young grafted nursery material I doubt you'll find any from the usual mail order places until next spring. Most of these sites have a blast of new stock at predictable times in April or May. Some, like Maplestone Ornamentals, will tell you exactly what day and time if you contact them. This year I saw Seigen at both Maplestone Ornamentals and Mendocino Maples.

Hi, I just separated/poted a couple of my Seigen air layers, did you leave them in the shade for a while or semi-shade?

Mostly shade, plenty of misting on the leaves during dry days. They still fried just a little but they’re doing great this year.
