Ulmus Parvifolia Yatsubusa

I like it in the current pot just fine, but I wonder if you could do it in a suiban sort of container as that would complete the idea that you are going for in my mind.
Looking good this year, glad to cast my eyes on it again.

Thanks, Cmeg1, MACH5 and JudyB for your comments.

I think you're right, MACH5, it is a forest composition.

JudyB, I will think about the suiban container idea. Maybe also a slab . I have to say that this tree has given me fits insofar as pot selection is concerned. I will think about your suiban idea. Thanks!

You know, I've often looked at those elms on Brent's page, and wondered what one would do with them. For the most part they just don't look very "tree-like" to me. But the idea to turn one into a "mountain with trees" is brilliant! Great solution.

I recently found a new pot for Mountain with Trees. It's an old Yamaaki pot, with a very complicated glaze. The pot is done in the pinched rim style. The container damage from last week's direct wind storm forced my hand so I slip potted the Mountain this afternoon. Here it is:

Have you ever thought about something unglazed for this tree Fred?

I have

Yes, I have. The first pot I used was rectangular, unglazed and about 18" wide. The second one I used was red clay and 12.4"x8" tall. I loved the red clay pot, but it really didn't work well with the tree.

Looks fantastic, and i'm not trying to be critical but the picture is so blurry I can't see the detail, just the overall shape

I think you need to lower the amount of post processing of bonsai images.
Nice pot by the way

Over time, I've become unhappy with the lack of detail of past photographs of Mountain with Trees. I decided to do a stitched image. I made 13 closeups of my bonsai and assembled them using the automate feature of Photoshop. The result was a mess. I've had this happen before. The solution is to assemble smaller pieces. In this instance, I wound up dividing the 13 images into 3 rows. Then I stitched them together by hand.

I let the tree get very full to give it a rest from constant pruning back.

I waited about 20 days, and then gave the tree shape, again.
