TV shows & movies with bonsai in them?

All these "indoor bonsai" examples are seen by millions and only further the bad information. I'm looking forward to a proper presentation of bonsai in popular media.
Of course, it’s a part of traditional Japanese culture to display bonsai in an tokonoma indoors for a brief period of a few days before taking the bonsai back outdoors where it belongs and swapping it for a different one.

The problem is that Westerners assume they’re just kept there all the time. Folks don’t realize it’s more like displaying cut flowers, where the display is a very temporary thing, not a permanent fixture.

Early in the first Dune movie, a slow panning shot inside the Aretrides home (palace?) catches a large conifer bonsai in the background, with characters talking in the foreground.

And also a drawer full of bonsai supplies.

I geeked hard when I saw this. Honestly made me feel like someone on the production really cares about bonsai, which is cool to get accurate representation in media outside of Japanese period pieces.

I wonder if anyone recognizes the tree. Looks like a ponderosa but I didn’t get the greatest look, and they block screenshots.

I agree to an extent, but I think if it’s shown in a roughly display way, it can make sense. Die Hard has large trees scattered all around a huge office, so it looks silly, but if you see the Severance example above where it’s a single (and importantly, pretty good) tree indoors, it isn’t the same as it is conceivable as a temporary indoor display. This is an especially good example as it shows the tools, implying the care involved, and it seems to fit the context of the show/character.

I actually rewatched the season 1 finale of Severance, and there’s a brief shot of a procumbens whip inside under a growlight. Making up for past mistakes!
