Cowboy Bebop has bonsai in it. Specifically Jet. This is true for both the anime and the live action.

listened to shogun and taipan and then the noble house on audible this early spring while working against some deadlines as well as when the trees were waking up those books were so epic

I'm watching Iron Chef. The theme is olives and the Chairman brought out an olive bonsai, nice one too. No, nobody is going to eat it.
