This morning

You get to enjoy the pool one day and ski the next.... that's hard to beat.
I literally tore my knee up dancing in college over 35 years ago... haven't skied since. Plus, I can only afford one expensive hobby 🤷‍♂️:D

Are you planning on moving any back under protection next week? I'm in a similar position with the buds popping on the maples/etc, and moved them out today. In the past few years I've moved them back in when expecting low 30's overnight, but I'm considering leaving all the pines out this time around (black and red) since it's not expected to go into the 20's by me (but, moving in the maples/zelkova/etc).

At this point, I've only repotted a couple of the pines - I'm waiting til it's a touch more consistent, before doing the more mature trees. However, sometimes I think I've been 'babying' them too much - I've left a red pine and Japanese Maple out all winter, in wood boxes, but on top of the ground with zero protection and zero watering, and they've done just fine over the last ~5 winters here in MI.

Just interested in other perspectives - I've done the shuffle for years, waiting until the grow bed trees bud out before leaving all the trees out all the time.
(also, more context, in general, my trees are in larger pots than needed - i've only a couple that I need to pay attention to, and those are easy enough to manage).

The evergreens are out for good barring extreme cold… I’ve repotted several pines and they’ll get moved if needed. All the deciduous trees will be under cover if frost threatens…. Planning on moving things back in next Monday night
Tornadoes and hail on the docket tomorrow evening...  . The evergreens will stay out but they may be moved underneath my benches now (if they'll fit), and the D trees will get moved underneath the eaves of my house or back into the cold room... maybe. I'll be watching the weather closely tomorrow.

What a truly lovely thread, @Dav4 ! I enjoyed scrolling through the whole thing. I was touched when @Michigan Tree Murderer called Michigan the Enchanted Peninsula, as I too have lived here all my life and never heard that phrase.
I'll keep this tab open in hopes of seeing those snazzy pink shorts...

It's the Enchanted Mitten that I'm smitten with. Those yoopers are a little wacky. :)
