Dwarf Scots Pine literati. It’s part of a large batch I got in 2017, so it’s about 8 years old. I’ll continue to remove branches over time as I finalize its design and build out a few pads. It’s pretty thick — that’s 4 awg on the trunk
Do you have a thread on this one? I'd be interested to see the progression

Y’all owe some tree pix. @Shima I like the left one on its own, but together they are very interesting.

The colors in the pot go well with that great azalea but unfortunately the pot is too small. It looks really top heavy like a strong gust would take it right over.

No thread. It’s the most boring progression ever… 😂

Step 1: buy a stupid quantity of plug-grown saplings and plop them into 1-gallon cans (March 2017)
IMG_0716.JPG

Step 2: keep them alive for years, but don’t give them any attention

Step 3: offer this ugly thing to a friend, who turned it down (February 2021)

Step 4: take a swing at it when bored and intoxicated — this is its first attention of any sort (November 2021)

Step 5: remove the wire about 8–10 months later

Step 6: come back to it when bored and intoxicated, throwing on more wire (December 3, 2022)

(I took another look and this is 6 AWG wire — not 4)

Well, we had an accident last week, and the Calliandra I show in my avatar fell from the top bench, and the pot was lost.
I lost a good branch from the apex too, now jinned.
After much fretting about repoting in the Summer, it went into a slightly smaller unglazed pot I had hanging around.
Good news is, it liked the pot alright and decided to put up a little show today.

Today, a week after the accident.

Well this doesn't even begin to compare to the M5 Great-View attachment 469262est hits but I collected this Japanese privet from the backyard a few years ago.
Thank you, and now the rest of us mortals can post again. 😊 That’s a great tree to have! D8541FDD-06D8-402E-B1AC-C266581180A5.jpeg
