The Tree Thread

New Project Juniper! Partial Repot this morning, now for cleanup and a bit of thinning to let light in. Lots of healthy foliage farther out! Will involve chasing back the foliage and lots of small steps.

This has so much Presence.
So loud in its small space.

Just because I felt the urge to go take a photo of a tree, two very slightly different angles here. Got repotted this year, just starting to grow again now. View attachment 199732View attachment 199733

Yellow Alaskan Cedar, native species collected yamadori. Have previously repotted, cleaned up deadwood and begun styling. Working now on foliage. A work in progress over the past four years and a new species to learn.
Neat tree. It's certainly unique. I'm interested to see what you make from it!

Brazilian rain tree. I was thinking flat top. Leafing out after being repotted and defoliated. It started shedding bark the other day. The trunk movement doesn't show in the photos, it's not so straight.

Collected Mt. Hemlock. Few bends to begin styling. branches will wait as will any foliage removal until recovery from bending. The ugly cygnet before the swan.

Shimpaku " Kishu" obtained Olympia workshop with John Muth in 2016. Taking my time reducing the size and selecting trunk line. Tree had lots of options. Completed very little work in the workshop deliberately! Repotted spring of 2017 to grow box from nursery pot. It is beginning to show some promise.IMG_9327.JPG

Kingsville Boxwood Looking sparse, needs time to fill in after cleaning the interior and crotches along with thinning out. Some say you should not wire boxwood, just clip and grow. Perhaps my excuse is " thought it was a procumbens!" Tree is 7 inches tall
