The Shohin Tree Thread

My little crape myrtle from earlier in the thread along with a couple of its even littler brothers. All 3 in the process of leafing out. Pots are Sara Rayner and Shawn Bokeno. The midle and right tree are both pokomoke dwarf varieties. The one on the left is unknown, as it was pulled out of the gravel driveway of my wife's old house. I have 2 of them left - no idea what type they are but the leaves get very small.

Ah, you're going to the Expo show? Have fun and good job on getting your display in there! Btw, is the pictured area in your house or at a show? It's looking very good!

Yes, Expo. Absolutely superb show, some very high standard trees.
The picture above was in my kitchen (with a cloth over the table). This one was my setup at the show today - I think it looked better in my kitchen!
Your little larch looks like it has a good future. I've been playing with one as well recently, though it has a few years to go.

Excellent, I hope you had a great day! I was there last year and had a hoot. The Expo pic looks way better yeah, although that kitchen is not too shabby either!
Cheers for your nice comment on my tree :)

This tater might not be anywhere near a show pot yet but I'm running out of pics :)

Cooler weather just starting here. This small English elm has put on its autumn coat earlier than usual I think. The hotter than usual summer may be to blame as this little tree suffered a few times through summer. There's also some leaf damage from the elm leaf beetles. Might need to treat these more often over summer...
Just cleaned the moss off the trunk for the photo. Moss had grown up the trunk past the first branch.
This one has quite extensive nebari that doesn't show up well in this photo.

Great little tree. Here's a work-in-progress larch.

This is my other driveway crape myrtle in a Chuck Iker pot. I made a newb mistake on this one with that very straight section of trunk. I could easily fix it now by just chopping it and growing a new top. I may do that one day but it doesn't bother me enough at the moment and I hate the idea of cuting off 4 or 5 years of work. Maybe I can notch it or figure out a way to bend the trunk a little...

Just a couple pictures of trees that aren’t mine but that I drool over on Instagram. I hope to one day get one of my own to this point. Much respect to the owners.

I’ve been on a bit of a tear lately requiring smaller trees…
Maybe that’s what I need to do, throw a temper tantrum... just a bit a tear?, and requiring small trees, and your wife goes for it? Definitely gonna try that one!?. Really nice pine. Air-layered zelkova struggling along...
