Planning for a show this weekend. Will probably use a smaller accent with the spruce.

From the left:
Acer palmatum in Stone Monkey pot on one of my stands
Cornus sanguinea in Daniel Butler pot
Chinese elm in Koyo pot on Pascal Houdousse table
Ferns in Koho pot
Pice abies 'Little Gem' in Yamaaki (first generation) pot
Slabs made by me.

It's pretty interesting how our bonsai sensibilities change even over a brief time. When I started just last year, I was only interested in developing larger bonsai. I now am very interested in shohin as well. Attached is my first, a Chinese elm - should receive it in the mail today. Who knows, maybe I'll even like literati one day (or not).

Cleaned up and wired an azalea recently, here it is in the rain from earlier today

I need to bring that lower right branch down but it’s just a tad intimidating so I haven’t tried to start on it yet

Reported this trident from a grow pot that is technically not shohin any longer which I bet is part of why it was being sold. I’m not sure I care as “close enough” may be ok in my world.

I like the pot but don’t know that I love it. There is an oribe Koyo oval on the FB auctions right now, had I seen it first I may have nabbed it and waited to repot…. Well, the hunt will continue next year. I think the straighter walls on this pot may have ended up working better anyways. A more sloped oval might make this look kind of like a ball once it’s leafed out.

“Braided” Beautyberry in a Koyo pot with beautiful patina. Dug out of the ground and put in this pot. The top will be worked after the tree is more established in the shallow pot.

Clump Beautyberry dug out of the ground and put in a Chinese container for future training. It will be pushed more to the right next repotting after finer roots get stronger.
